PROJECT 2: Epigenetic Response to Exercise in Thoroughbreds

  • The 17 human exercise markers were successfully translated across for the equine pilot project

  • 10 markers showed strong concordance and were carried through to use as classifiers between sprinters and stayers

  • Based on the 10 markers, the EpiSwitch™ test classifies well between Sprinters and Stayers, with an accuracy of 93.75%. 

  • The 10 identified markers now need to be validated in a further validation study

  • This classifier will have commercial relevance to both breeders and trainers
